Bonsai Series

In May 2025, Apolo began experimenting on using the malleability of copper to mimic the timeless living art of bonsai. His expression of brass leaves are particularly interesting because no two leaves are the same. His process leaves the leaf design to chance.

Bonsai Island (2025)

The artist depicts our Lord, as he gazed at the heavens beseeching the Father's power and guidance. This artwork features the irony of the depth of emotions seemingly emanating from Jesus' eyes. The artist also renders our Lord in traditional pre-colonial Filipino loincloth or bahag.

This sculpture was wholly forged by the artist using copper, silver, and zinc. The cross is made of solid mahogany.

Bowing Bonsai (2025)

Legends have it that seahorses are baby dragons. Through this mythical mixed creature, the artist renders the interplay of grandeur, grace and power.

The “Griffin” is a mythological mixed creature that has the upper body of an eagle and the lower body of a lion. It is featured in many cultures, from the Middle East, to Asia and Greece, where griffins were said to have guarded the gods’ gold. Griffins symbolize power, and Iparticularly like their association with the god, Apollo, who happens to be the artist's namesake. Is the Griffin ready to defend or attack? You decide.
