Bonsai Series
In May 2025, Apolo began experimenting on using the malleability of copper to mimic the timeless living art of bonsai. His expression of brass leaves are particularly interesting because no two leaves are the same. His process leaves the leaf design to chance.
Bonsai Island (2025)

Apolo has always wanted to cultivate and grow his own bonsai. However, the demands of the craft simply escapes him, with the amount of time and dedication needed. His rendition of this timeless living art consists of copper at its core for malleability, and thereafter layered with brass. The leaves are unique in that they settle in the space between randomness and order.​
Bonsai Island is his first venture into creating forged-metal bonsai using copper and brass. This piece organically took the form of an atoll with a single tree, which imbues humility, confidence and contentment.

Oro Plata Mata Oro Bonsai (2025)

Apolo has always wanted to cultivate and grow his own bonsai. However, the demands of the craft simply escapes him, with the amount of time and dedication needed. His rendition of this timeless living art consists of copper at its core for malleability, and thereafter layered with brass.

If trees could climb steps, this bonsai would be the first to attempt such feat. From its base, it propels itself by a total of four stepping stones to reach a vantage point of Oro. (Gold). It seems to favor such height from which it generously spreads its branches to offer the world tiny bowl-like leaves, to catch the Universe’s blessings.
